WORKSHOP GROUPS

Group 1

I am familiar with basic patterns and more, I would like to explore more variations. I can keep the rhythm and steps right, but I lose track of them from time to time when dancing in couple.

Group 2

I have no problems with basics and timing. I can mix-it-up and do some more advanced stuff when asked. I would like to explore more variations, concepts and make my dance to match the music better.

I feel comfortable with dance as well as musicality. I see opportunities to create in the moment. I am seeking to learn more complex elements.

Group 4

Throw everything you got at me, Teachers, I will handle it!

BONUS WORKSHOPS

Open Group – Friday workshop

Open workshop for everyone

Body awareness

These will be mainly solo movement classes where there is no “right” or “wrong”, but a process of feeling, knowing, exploring and letting go. We will experience the process of movement, letting go into the creative process, exploring the expression of emotions in the body and in movement. Classes will mainly use principles from the mindfulness-based approach, the Laban-Bartenieff movement system, used by choreographers, physiotherapists, directors and other professionals.

Sounds exciting, but at the same time a bit frightening? Don’t worry.

Classes will be led by Darja Krizska-Popova who is a certified art therapist with specialization in dance and movement therapy, a board member of the Latvian Association of Art Therapy Associations. Her daily work is “about and around” movement and building and strengthening the relationship with your body, about awareness of yourself and your body. She works as a dance and movement therapist in a hospital, in spare time teaches Zouk and stage movement in a youth theater studio.

See you at the workshops that, hopefully, will help to connect more thoroughly to Yourself through the movement.

There will be no visual separation between levels (different color wristbands, stickers, etc.) nor level audition. However, we will assign all participants “a recommended level” using the information you provide during registration and would kindly ask you to follow these recommendations in order to keep gender balance and spacing during workshops reasonable.

Guys, please remember that the level of class you are taking does not guarantee how much you are going to learn or progress with your dance, so just come to the classes open-minded and willing to learn and improve!

All the workshops will be held in ENGLISH!
